Digital marketing agency strategy meeting evaluating client acquisition in Dhaka

You search for a digital marketing agency in Dhaka and get a hundred results. Every one of them promises to be "result-driven," "the best in Bangladesh," and "your growth partner." The websites look alike, the service lists look alike, and the prices range from suspiciously cheap to alarmingly high.

So you pick one based on a good feeling, a friend's recommendation or the lowest quote. Three months later you have a report full of reach, impressions and likes, and sales that haven't moved.

That outcome is avoidable. Choosing an agency doesn't require marketing knowledge. It requires knowing which questions expose the difference between an agency that produces activity and one that produces customers.

A good digital marketing agency in Dhaka should be able to explain how your business makes money, set up tracking before spending your budget, give you ownership of your ad accounts and data, report on sales and leads instead of vanity numbers, and tell you honestly what it can't promise. If an agency can't do those five things, the rest of its pitch doesn't matter much.

What a digital marketing agency should actually do for you#

The term covers a lot, so it helps to know what's in it. Most businesses need some mix of these:

  • Paid advertising. Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram), Google Ads, TikTok and YouTube, where you pay for visibility and need to get more back than you spend.
  • SEO. Making your website easier for Google to find, understand and rank, including technical SEO, content and local search.
  • AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). Making sure your business is understandable and citable in AI answers from tools like Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT.
  • Website and landing page work. Because traffic is wasted if the site doesn't convert. This is where conversion rate optimization (CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization)) comes in.
  • Tracking and analytics. Making sure you know which ads, pages and campaigns lead to real sales.
  • Content and social media. Posts, videos, creative and community management.
  • Automation and chatbots. Following up leads, answering common questions and taking orders without manual work.

You rarely need all of these at once. A good agency starts with whichever one is currently limiting your growth, and tells you honestly if that's something it doesn't do.

Agency, freelancer or in-house team?#

This is the first decision, and there's no universal right answer.

| | Freelancer | Agency | In-house hire | | ----- | ----- | ----- | ----- | | Best for | Small, focused jobs or one channel | Multiple connected channels, ongoing growth | Large, steady workload | | Strength | Direct access, flexible, often lower cost | Several skills under one roof, process and backup | Full focus on your brand | | Risk | Single point of failure, limited range | Junior staff doing the real work, generic approach | Salary cost, one person's skill limits | | Check | Past work, communication | Who exactly will manage your account | Real expertise, not just a job title |

An agency makes the most sense when your marketing needs several skills that depend on each other, such as ads, tracking, landing pages and follow-up. A freelancer or a small specialist team can be better when you need one thing done well. Neither size guarantees quality.

What's different about marketing in Dhaka#

Some things are specific to this market, and a good local agency should already know them.

Facebook and Instagram remain central for many businesses. A lot of buying conversations happen in Messenger or WhatsApp before any website is visited. That means your ad campaigns, your inbox response speed and your order process all matter as much as the creative.

Cash on delivery and mobile payments change the numbers. If many of your orders are COD, then return rates, fake orders and confirmation calls affect your real profit. An agency that only looks at orders placed, and ignores orders delivered and paid, is showing you a flattering number.

Language matters. Some audiences respond better to Bangla, some to English, some to a mix. Copy that sounds translated rarely works.

Ad accounts and payments need planning. Paying for Meta and Google ads from Bangladesh has practical hurdles, and how it's handled affects who controls the account. Ask about it directly, and read the section on account ownership below.

Many Dhaka agencies serve overseas clients too. If you're targeting customers in other countries, check that the agency has actually run campaigns for those markets, not just local ones. Targeting, payment methods, buying habits and ad policies differ.

How do I choose a digital marketing agency in Dhaka?#

Look for proof of how they think, not only what they've done. Ask how they'll measure success, who owns the ad accounts, how tracking will be set up, what their reports contain, who will actually work on your account, and what they'd fix first. Agencies that answer clearly and specifically are usually more reliable than those that promise results.

Here are the questions I'd ask, and what to listen for.

"How will you measure success for my business?"

A good answer mentions your actual goal: sales, qualified leads, booked appointments, cost per customer. It should connect to your margins and your sales process.

A weak answer talks about reach, followers, impressions, likes or "brand awareness" without linking them to revenue. Those numbers aren't useless, but they can look good while your sales stay flat.

"What will you set up before spending my ad budget?"

The right answer starts with tracking: the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, Google tags, GA4, correct conversion events, and a check that the numbers match your real orders. Then the landing page or website, then the campaigns.

An agency that starts spending your money on day one without checking tracking is guessing, and you're paying for the guesses. The earlier articles in this series explain why wrong tracking quietly damages ad performance.

"Who owns the ad accounts, pages and data?"

You should. The ad accounts, Business Manager, pixels, Google Analytics, domain and social pages should belong to your business, with the agency given access. If the agency runs everything from its own accounts, you can lose your campaign history, audiences and data the day you leave.

This is a common trap, and it's worth asking before signing anything.

"Can I see a sample report?"

A useful report shows spend, sales or leads, cost per result, what changed, what was learned, and what happens next. It should be readable without a glossary.

Be wary of reports that are mostly screenshots of dashboards with big green numbers and no explanation.

"Who will actually work on my account?"

Some agencies sell with senior people and hand the work to juniors. That isn't automatically bad, since juniors can do good work with proper oversight, but you should know who's doing what and who's accountable.

"What would you fix first in my business?"

A thoughtful agency will ask questions and give a preliminary view: maybe your site is slow, maybe your offer is unclear, maybe your tracking is broken. A generic answer such as "we'll run Facebook ads and boost your page" suggests a template.

"What can't you promise?"

Honest agencies say they can't guarantee rankings, sales or a specific ROAS (Return on Ad Spend), because too much depends on your product, price, competition and website. They can promise process, transparency and testing.

Red flags worth taking seriously#

  • Guaranteed rankings or guaranteed ROAS. Nobody controls Google or Meta.
  • Very low prices with big promises. Good work takes time and skill. A low fee usually means little time is spent on your account.
  • Long contracts with no way out. A confident agency doesn't need to lock you in for a year.
  • No mention of tracking. Without it, results can't be verified.
  • Ownership stays with them. Accounts, pixels, content or websites that you can't take with you.
  • Reports focused on vanity numbers. Likes and reach without revenue.
  • Copy-paste strategy. The same plan offered to a restaurant, a clothing store and a software company.
  • Fake or unverifiable portfolios. Ask for examples you can check, and be careful with screenshots of results that can't be confirmed.
  • Pressure to decide quickly. "This offer ends today" isn't how a long working relationship starts.

How agencies charge, and what to watch for#

Pricing models vary, and each has trade-offs.

  • Monthly retainer. A fixed fee for ongoing work. Predictable, but make sure the scope is written down.
  • Percentage of ad spend. The fee rises with your budget. It can work, but it gives the agency a reason to encourage you to spend more.
  • Project-based. A fixed price for a defined job, such as a website, a tracking setup or an SEO audit. Good for clear deliverables.
  • Performance-based. Part of the fee depends on results. It sounds attractive, but it only works when results can be measured cleanly and fairly. Make sure both sides agree on what counts and how it's tracked.

Whatever the model, find out three things: what the fee includes, whether your ad spend is separate from the agency fee (it usually is), and what you get if you leave.

What the first 30 days should look like#

A professional start usually looks something like this:

  1. Discovery. Questions about your business, margins, customers, sales process and past results.
  2. Audit. A review of your website, tracking, ad accounts and competitors.
  3. Setup. Fixing tracking, analytics, pixels and any obvious website problems.
  4. Plan. A clear strategy, with what will be tested first and how success will be judged.
  5. Launch. Campaigns or SEO work begin, usually in small tests before scaling.
  6. Review. A first report that explains what's happening in plain language.

If month one is just "campaigns are live" with no audit and no tracking check, ask why.

How long before results show up?#

It depends on the channel. Paid ads can generate traffic quickly, but finding profitable campaigns usually takes a few weeks of testing. SEO and AI search visibility take longer, often months, because pages need to be crawled, assessed and trusted. Be sceptical of anyone who promises first-page rankings in a few weeks for competitive searches.

That's mentioned so you can judge where the advice comes from, not as a reason to hire him. The questions above are worth asking of any agency, including this one.

When it makes sense to talk to Zonaed#

If your problem is a specific one, such as ads that bring clicks without sales, a website that isn't ranking, unreliable tracking, or a store losing customers before checkout, it's often better to start with a review than a long retainer.

Zonaed offers that kind of review: looking at your website, tracking, ad accounts and search visibility together, working out what's actually holding growth back, and then telling you honestly whether you need ongoing help or just a handful of fixes.

Connecting traffic with verified revenue#

Every campaign succeeds or fails on the discipline behind it. Whether fixing ad tracking, preparing pages for AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), or testing checkout flows with CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization), measurement comes first.

Questions about this

Can I apply this advice myself?

Yes. Everything Zonaed Hossain writes is written so an in house team can run it without hiring him. He lists the steps in the order he would do them, including the checks that catch mistakes. If you want him to review your setup after you try, book a free 1:1 consultation.

How often do you publish?

Zonaed Hossain publishes when a client problem produces something worth writing down, usually once or twice a month. He updates older posts when a platform changes rather than publishing filler, and the last updated date is shown on every post. Book a free 1:1 consultation if you want a topic covered.

Are the numbers in the posts real?

Yes. Every number in a post carries its period and its source, usually one client account. When a figure cannot be stated that way it does not go in. The case studies page holds the fuller versions, each with the starting position and the timeframe. Book a free 1:1 consultation if you want the same measured on your account.

Do you write the posts yourself?

Yes. Zonaed Hossain writes every post from work on real accounts. There is no ghostwriter and no republished listicles. A post based on one account says so, and a post that mixes several accounts says that too. If you want this method applied to your accounts, book a free 1:1 consultation.

Can I suggest a topic?

Yes. Send it through the contact form or WhatsApp with a line about your business. Questions from store owners and marketers decide what gets written next, and the useful ones become posts with the numbers stated. If your question needs an answer sooner, book a free 1:1 consultation and ask directly.
